Scam done at the banks

We were contacted the other day by this company:

AL-GHANI HAWAL TRADING L.L.C.
13 SAEED OUD METHA ROAD
AJMAN 51305.
UNITED ARAB EMIRATES.

They said they were interested in our products.  Almost immediately, we were suspicious but we did not want to offend any legitimate customers.  Anyhow, after we quoted for the products several days went by and I thought they had gone away.

Today, I received a call from my bank tell me that someone sent a fraudulent CIBC bank draft to deposit into my account.  The bank has seen this operation before and has warned me what they do.  They deposit extra money in your account; more than what is required to purchase your goods.  If allowed they ask you to send products and refund them the "extra" money.

If they can get you to send a legitimate transfer then they win.  I suppose the products are gravy.

Watch out!  There are bad people out there.

  1. disgusting scam, I'm sure the money back they could get from these phony wire transfers, are used to launder money to support Islamic Jihad and terrorism. No 69 virgins for this scammer.

  2. Hey, what is your bank that spotted that scam? We just suffered a significant loss from that same scam with that same 'client' because our bank BMO Harris bank let the draft through and, despie the fact, that we explained to their Wire Dept the whole story also let the wire out without warning us. Our bank now says they are not liable and we're looking for a good lawyer. I think, the example of your bank will add weight to our position.

  3. Sorry for the very late reply. It's horrible to hear your story. Our bank is TD.

  4. Just had the same thing happen here. They ordered $40,000 in product and deposited a $195,000 check into our account, then asked for a refund of the overage. Haha. Not so fast, Hajib. We notified authorities.
